About the Nattmara:
The word “nattmara” is Swedish for “night mare” and a mara/mare can be described as a kind of demon. At first glance the nattmara looks a lot like a very thin human woman, although some say it has fur, horns, big tusks and a long tail.
The nattmara can also change form into a bat, which makes it easier to find a way inside peoples houses – perhaps through the chimney or a window left ajar.
The nattmara is a malicious creature, visiting people in the night when they sleep and planting terrifying dreams inside their minds. Sometimes it sits on it’s victims chest, paralyzing them if they wake up, whilst they can not see what is holding them down.
Sometimes in these moments the nattmara will become visible before its victim and the sight of the nattmara might be even worse than the bad dreams it inflicts.
